For women at midlife and beyond, yoga offers a primary form of menopause medicine and supports a women’s spiritual journey through this stage. Yoga reduces the effects of these hormonal changes by balancing the endocrine system and can assist you in coping with a wide range of symptoms and challenges. Friday evening’s Restorative Yoga session will introduce deeply relaxing passive poses, supported by yoga props to help you stay in poses for a longer time to restore your energy and allow your nervous system to relax. Restorative Yoga replenishes your adrenal reserves, which will support you through the times when you are feeling “too tired to exercise” (often due to adrenal exhaustion).
Saturday afternoon will focus on key poses for women at midlife, including supported, nurturing ways to practice yoga’s vital weight bearing Standing and Inverted Poses and Backbends. These poses are particularly important as they have a powerful effect on the neuroendocrine system, allowing fresh, oxygenated blood to flow to the glands in the head and neck. Learn how yoga can help you: address hot flashes, night sweats and other symptoms; ease anxiety, mood swings, fatigue and depression; strengthen bones and reduce bone loss; prevent heart disease and increase cardiovascular strength; build your immune system; support pelvic health and alleviate common problems like heavy bleeding. For both prevention and relief of symptoms, this workshop will give you valuable knowledge and the tools for toning your body and improving your overall health and well being. No prior yoga experience needed.

Sunday June 26: Yoga's Rejuvenating Inverted Poses
The Elixir of Life for Men and Women at Midlife and Beyond
Explore the incredible benefits of reversing gravity and practicing yoga’s
inverted poses. Inverted poses have a dramatic effect on what physiologists call hemodynamics—the flow of blood to every organ of the body. Yoga’s easy, restful inversions, as well as more challenging, active inversions, have a particularly potent and measurable effect on the endocrine glands and strengthen your cardiovascular health and build strong bones. In both men and women, the endocrine system controls the changes in hormone levels that occur with the passage of time. Explore safe, nurturing ways to practice both passive and weight-bearing inverted poses. The workshop will address precautions and contraindications including neck, back and shoulder problems, high blood pressure, and other medical conditions. Gain confidence in a supportive atmosphere, and discover how easy and safe these poses can be.
This class is open to both men and woman at all levels of experience.
